REGULAR MEETING
June 13, 2022
MINUTES OF THE REGULAR MEETING OF THE NEZPERCE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF NEZPERCE, IDAHO, HELD ON June 13, 2022.
PLACE: Training Room, Nezperce City Hall, 606 Maple Street.
THE MEETING WAS CALLED TO ORDER BY MAYOR BATEMAN AT 7:00A.M.
PRESENT were Councilmembers Steve Bateman, Mike Jensen, Tyler Nelson, Maintenance Supervisor Craig Cardwell, Office Assistant Kim Johnson Ingram and Clerk-Treasurer Rhonda Schmidt. Councilmembers James Zenner and Kimberly Ingram were present via Zoon. Guests present were: JUB Engineer Amy Uptmor and resident Dan Johnson.
Pledge of Allegiance: The pledge was led by Mayor Bateman.
PUBLIC COMMENT
No members of the public in attendance wanted to make comment.
MINUTES of the previous meeting of 5/9/22 were approved as emailed upon a motion by
Cm. Zenner was seconded by Cm. Jensen, motion carried.
TREASURER’S REPORT AND MONTHLY BILLS:
The Clerk’s Monthly Treasurer’s Report dated June 13, 2022 was examined and approved, showing the following:
Funds on Hand $637,407.03
All bills and payroll disbursements were examined and approved for payment upon a motion by Cm. Jensen and seconded by Cm. Nelson in the total of $58,553.26 check numbers 16442 through 16482. Receipts since the last meeting were shown as $36,407.11. Checks and stub approvals were signed appropriately by all parties as well all signed the Claim Approval Report for June.
BUSINESS TO BE CONDUCTED
DEPARTMENTAL REPORTS
1. Maintenance Report
Surplus Planters: Maintenance Cardwell came across 27 large concrete planters in Boise for $725.00 plus freight. Cardwell would like them to replace the ones on Oak Street we are currently using. He will see if he can find someone to haul them.
Sewer: Cardwell reported that the radio system needs upgraded with the coming project. Discussion followed regarding installing chain link fencing around the ponds.
Parks: Cardwell informed that we have had a regular group of individuals staying in the park so he had signs made that state no sleeping in restrooms or camping in the park. The band shell suffered another round of vandalism that wasn’t captured on camera.
Tennis Court Bathrooms: It was decided that these bathrooms will come down after Prairie Day. Cm. Ingram will follow up with the Service League on helping to create a project of building new restrooms.
Streets: Maintenance Cardwell will be grading and asked the council about dust oiling the gravel with mag chloride as that is what Prairie Highway is going to use. He will check with Cody on cost of the product.
2. Clerk
Juneteenth: Clerk Schmidt asked the council about Juneteenth as a holiday? The council replied that they were not interested in another paid holiday.
3. Fire Department
Fire Chief Kuther was not present.
