Nezperce Service League
In 1985, the Nezperce area women joined together to form a group known as the Nezperce Service League, a nonprofit organization. The members of the organization consist of local business women and farmer’s wives. The purpose of the organization is to promote the welfare of the community and to help those in need. Some of the Service League’s annual events include:

In addition the Service League makes donations to support many other community events and needs. They include:

The Service League is able to make donations by doing a variety of fundraisers including:

- Lewis County Fair Salad Bar
- Community Calendar
- 12 Days of Christmas Calendar Raffle
Another large project that was conducted by the Nezperce Service League was raising funds to install a community reader board. The project cost was approximately $18,600 and all funds were gathered through donations and grants. In 2011, we completed the Reader Board project. The reader board has been a great addition to our community and we’d like to thank everyone for their support. We now keep the board updated regularly with the latest community events and announcements.
In 2012, the Nezperce Service League started raising funds to replace the playground located at the Lion’s Park in Nezperce, Idaho. Jennifer Lux and Kaci Ralstin, Program Technicians in the Lewis/Clearwater County FSA office, acted as the co chairman of the project. The majority of the funds for the playground were raised from December of 2012 to April of 2013. Through various fundraisers, we were able to raise $47,935.43 for the project. The different fund raisers included harvest lunch auction, ceiling tile project at
the local store, an auction at the local Fireman’s Ball and very generous donations from local businesses and individuals.
The auction at the fireman’s ball was a very successful fundraiser for the project. At the auction we raised $11,115. A total of 64 auction items were donated from local businesses and individuals. Some of the auction items included: a weekend trip to Las Vegas, including tickets to the National Finals Rodeo, Seattle Mariners package, including hotel stay and tickets to a game, 50 acres of aerial fertilizer application, 40 acres of Kentucky Bluegrass seed stock, Smokey Mountain Grill, deck heater, etc.
The funds for the playground project will go towards purchasing the actual playground, landscaping, drinking fountain, and a recognition plaque to thank sponsors of the project. A community day has been organized for June 8, 2013. The community day will consist of community members volunteering their time to help put the playground together. Meals and snacks will be provided that day for all volunteers. All meals and snacks have been donated by the Nezperce Service League, the local store and 4H groups.
