My name is Wesley Neisler and I am a COVID-19 Community Resource Specialist (CCCRS) in region 2 of Idaho with Idaho Strong – a grant funded program with its roots in the Behavioral Health Division of the Idaho Department of Health and Welfare.
I have some information to share about Idaho Strong, namely the COVID Help Now Line that is a component of it.
The COVID Help Now Line is a free crisis counseling line that also offers a connection to resources within the community. We do not have funding directly in our program, but rather facilitate the connection to other organizations in the community, whether the need be rental assistance, food assistance, school supplies, etc. Is this a resource that might be beneficial to you, and the people you serve? (Please see COVID Help Now.pdf) If this sounds like something that would be beneficial to those you serve, I’d love the assistance in disseminating this resource! Is there a specific population that may require outreach to? Finally, if this is something useful for you and your city, can this flyer be shared via your social media outlets?
I would also like to share information about the Counseling Assistance for Frontline Workers program. The CCAFW resource offers 5 free counseling sessions to frontline workers – please see the respective file attached. During these times, many people find themselves in overwhelming positions, especially service providers. This resource offers a confidential, professional and free outlet for those who may be struggling.
As a CCCRS I am looking to see what additional resources I can offer the community. My role is to help connect Idahoans to resources within their community and offer emotional support. Some of the things our team has implemented are Pen Pal Programs with schools and nursing facilities, informational sessions about our program, resiliency webinars, small group sessions to discern emotions and build coping skills, and partnering with local organizations to spread the word about COVID Help Now.
