Nezperce Recycle Center

Hey, Nezperce now has a new recycling center... accepting newspapers, cans and plastics. Bins are located at City Hall. Check out the following for the complete list of what specific items will be accepted and all the do's and don'ts.

Please contact City Hall at 937-1021 if you have any ??'s.

NEZPERCE RECYCLE CENTER

Follow these Guidelines for materials that can be recycled at the Nezperce recycling location

CARDBOARD IS NOT BEING ACCEPTED AT THE BLUE RECYCLING BINS AT THIS TIME!! - Cardboard needs to be dropped off in the brown dumpster by the Nezperce School

Newspaper

Consists of:

Magazines
Telephone books
Paperback books
Catalogs
Office paper
Tin can labels
Open discarded mail

Please place non-newsprint paper in brown bag!

Metal Cans

Consists of:

Aluminum cans
Tin cans
Metal containers must be limited to 1.5 gallons in size.

Must be opened and content free. Loose tin lids must be discarded and paper labels removed and recycled.

Mixed Plastic Bottles

Consists of:

Plastic bottles and or Jugs No. 1 through 7

All containers must have lids removed and discarded, be empty and have an opening or spout smaller than the bottom of the container.

All labels may remain attached to plastic bottles.

Items NOT allowed:

Paper or plastic bags
Aluminum foil
Aerosol type containers
Containers larger than 1.5 gallons
Containers used to contain paint, thinners, automobile products, hydrocarbons, fuel, pesticides and/or herbicides.

Discard all plastic lids

Reading about Nezperce makes me want to pack up my bags and migrate to the place. It seems to be such a peaceful and organized place. It even has its own recycling center - and near the school, no less. I would love to bring in my thesis proposal and have its contents recycled; hopefully making it better.

I came and reported to the City Council that the Nez Perce Tribe would like to have a Household Hazardous Waste Collection in the City of Nezperce. On the minutes for December 11th, the City of Nezperce provided support toward having a household hazardous waste collection. I would like to work with the recycling program to help facilitate a collection day on Saturday April 20th. The Tribe is hoping to facilitate a program where the City can provide an annual collection. This facilitation would be in the form of providing signage for hazardous waste collection rules, location, and times. Facilitation from the Tribe will be provided by funding from an Environmental Protection Agency grant during the Fiscal Year of 2013. Please let me know if the Nezperce recycling center can be this location and provide a future collection. Thank you, John Wheaton 208-843-7368 ext.3891
